Peanut Shell Sling - Introduction
Order Now!
The Peanut Shell Sling was born out of a desire to give new parents a stylish cozy option to
baby wearing. The Peanut Shell sling was designed and developed by a husband and wife who liked
the idea of having a complication free baby carrier. Plucking the name from their baby's nick
name the Peanut Shell sling has become more than just a cute name, it has become the sling
to have!
In fact, from its very conception, the Peanut Shell line has shown a fearless sense of style
distinguishing itself from the once dreaded uncomfortable baby sling. The Peanut Shell Sling utilizes eye-popping,
comfortable fabrics, and working with only the very best people in the industry, our sling
certainly shows no restraint from style. The Peanut Shell Sling is indeed a "must-have" for your baby gear collection.

Peanut Shell Sling - Getting the Right Fit
The Peanut Shell Sling is designed to fit the person wearing the sling. Sizing is based on your overall upper
body size, torso length, personal preference, and height. The Peanut Shell Sling should fit snug but
feel comfortable. With baby inside the Peanut Shell Sling, the baby should ride in line with your hip bones
or above. As baby grows you will use the variety of carrying positions all in the same sling!
Please keep in mind that sizing for the Peanut Shell Sling is VERY personal and each person has their own preferences.

Do I have the correct Peanut Shell Sling size?
With the baby inside the sling the lowest part of the sling
should rest in line or above your hip bones. See the illustration at
right for a guide to where the sling should lay. Remember
that this is just a guideline, so go with what feels most
comfortable to you.
Is my Peanut Shell Sling too big? If your baby does not feel secure first be sure that you
have it on properly by following our guidelines. Then if it is still
too big you need a smaller size.
|
 |
Is my Peanut Shell Sling too small? If you are still pregnant it should fit snug, but you
should be able to pull the sling away from your body a couple of inches. Not pregnant? If you cannot
fit your baby in at all you will need a larger size or if it just feels too tight then you need a larger size.
The overall fit of the Peanut Shell Sling should fit snug and baby may looked squished but as long as you both are comfortable
then you have the right size . If baby does not seem happy in the Peanut Shell Sling, then get moving as most babies
like to be moving around. You can also try putting a rolled receiving blanket under baby to prop them up
until they have better head control. |

How to put the Peanut Shell Sling on
1. Hold the Peanut Shell Sling in one hand with the folded edge facing you and open edge facing out.
2. Put arm though the sling and let it come to rest on the opposite shoulder Pocket will be in front,
centered on your body.
3. The curved seam of the Peanut Shell Sling will now be in front your body & you are ready for baby!
4. Before you put the baby in spread the fabric across the ball of your shoulder, (NOT up around your neck
– shoulder bone should be centered on the fabric), and flat and smooth across your back!
*No matter which position you are using, your baby's bottom always goes on the seam, which is curved
to create a deep "seat". For front cradle or upright carries, position the seam just off-center from your belly
button, about halfway between belly button and hip bone. For hip carries, it should be at your hip.

2. Lower baby onto hip (Tip-His bum should be in line with the seam) so that BOTH layers of fabric are on his back.
3. Find inside layer of the pouch against baby's back. Pull INSIDE fabric layer (layer with padded rail) down and
completely under baby's bottom to create the seat. Pull up fabric on his back for added support and comfort.
4. Make sure the pouch inside rail (padded edge) is all the way under his bottom and thighs to the back of his knees.
His knees should be higher than his bum so his weight is not on his legs.

Peanut Shell Sling - Tips and Tricks
Nursing while using the Peanut Shell Sling
To nurse, slide your baby close to the breast that you will nurse with. Pull the inside carrier fabric down to expose your breast and help your baby latch on.
Smaller babies (or while you are getting the hang of it) will still probably need the support from one of your arms.
For more private nursing or sleeping, place your baby towards the inside of the wide strip of fabric so that the outside fabric of the Peanut Shell Sling covers your baby and breast.
How to keep the Peanut Shell Sling from sliding
If you find that the pouch slides slowly off the shoulder easily down their arm we have a few tips to help. To prevent this, try narrowing the fabric by folding the outside edge of the Peanut Shell over (in half again).
This helps the fabric from scooting down your arm. Wearing a cotton shirt or other less slippery fabrics also helps to prevent this.
Correct Shoulder Placement
Notice how the Peanut Shell sling is evenly spread across the shoulder.
Be sure that you have the fabric pulled up enough over your shoulder (as in the picture). It should not be falling down your arm.
|
|
Shoulder Flip
If your baby seems to be leaning a bit too far back while in the Peanut Shell Sling, you can do a shoulder flip (as seen here). Also please look at how deep into the pouch the baby is sitting. This is very important so that the weight is not on the baby's legs.
Create a deep seat in the pouch and be sure to pull the fabric all the way up to the back of baby's knees

Peanut Shell Sling - Safety Please read before using the Peanut Shell Sling
Please use common sense when wearing the Peanut Shell sling and use caution at all times
while your baby is in the carrier.
1. Be sure at all times that baby's chin is not against their chest as this may reduce oxygen flow.
2. Never have baby's face covered with a blanket, clothing, or any other object while in the Peanut Shell Sling
and do not let the sling to completely cover baby's face.
3. Be sure to keep baby away from hot stoves, heaters, fireplaces or other hot or sharp objects.
Pay attention to what your baby is doing at all times!
4. Please remember that toddlers, if worn, are at your reaching level and love the new freedom to
grab potentially dangerous objects off shelves.
5. When going through doorways or around corners, use extreme caution that baby's body and
head does not stick out past your arm and strike the wall or doorjamb.
6. Do not use the Peanut Sehll Sling while cooking or working with sharp or hot objects.
7. Do not ride a bicycle or any other "cycle" while wearing your baby. Baby carriers are not substitutes for an approved car seat.
8. When putting the baby in the Peanut Shell SLing always make sure that you are supporting your baby with at least one arm at all times until you are certain the sling is in place.
9. When using the Peanut Shell Sling, bend at the knees, not at the waist, and support baby in the sling with one hand.
